just the sketch, done with a red calligraphy pen. oh, being back at my parents' with limited supplies.
will be finished in watercolor :) hopefully tomorrow.

sketchbook and others

school has begun.

ooh, illustration.
these are pages from my ink drawing sketchbook.
we're supposed to use mainly ink (any kind - there's sharpie, straight ink-and-brush or ink-and-pen, ballpoint pen, etc)

had to illustrate a fortune cookie:
"open your heart - it can always be closed again"
i don't like it.

these two drawings were done without lifting my pen, starting at the corner of someone's eye.

and, my ink drawing homework assignment thus far:
illustrate a fairy tale or children's story using silhouette

i chose the Seven Ravens by the Brothers Grimm.

the decemberists in my head.

i've been listening to a lot of the decemberists lately.

acryllic on construction paper, 8.5" x 11"
painting on construction paper was interesting. there's a lot of fast layering involved, the water soaks up real quick. it's cool.
but then again, i'm an art nerd.

mike's koi

tattooed this on a good friend today :)

it's a koi fish that brandon boyd from incubus apparently has tattooed on him somewheres, done by jose from the same band? i think? my friend mike told me, but i was concentrating on doing the tattoo.

it took five and a half hours to get this done. he was being a baby and taking breaks every five seconds. and his aunt and little cousin showed up to watch? awkward.

admittedly this is a mad sensitive spot, and it probably killed. but i have to give him shit anyways.

now i really want an all-red tattoo. i'd thought about it a lot, specifically like stippling/pointilism etc. they're pretty cool.

ok enough life story. just look at the tattoo.

i started doing these weird liney pieces over the winter. all of them contain phrases that i abstract; either i start with the phrase, or i work the phrase into the design as i go.
